How Our Network Works

Request an estimate

Who you talk to

You talk to an independent HVAC provider in our network. Each provider runs its own business, sets its own prices, and does its own work. Desperateofficial Heating & Air makes the introduction and then steps back. There are no staff profiles here because the people who visit your home work for the provider, not for us.

What happens on the first conversation

Most people think the first talk is a sales pitch. In practice, it is usually a short set of questions. Expect to be asked:

  • What kind of system you have, and roughly how old it is
  • What you see, hear, or smell
  • What you already tried, such as changing a filter or resetting the thermostat
  • Where the equipment sits in your home

The provider may then suggest a visit to look at the system. Timing depends on the provider and the season.

What you can safely check first

Some checks are fine for a homeowner. Look at the thermostat settings and batteries. Check that the filter is clean. Make sure the breaker has not tripped and the vents are open. Anything inside the equipment, such as gas parts, wiring, or refrigerant lines, is a job for a professional.

What to ask a provider

  • Will you give a written quote before starting?
  • What are the repair and replacement options, and how do they compare?
  • Is there a fee just to diagnose the problem?
  • Are parts and labor covered by any warranty, and for how long?
  • Do you hold the licenses required where I live?
  • What could change the price once work begins?

You are in control

A referral does not lock you in. You can ask questions, get more than one quote, and say no. Costs vary a lot by job, so a written quote is your strongest tool for comparing choices.
